If the BMW isn't displaying data correctly e.g. charge status, it’s likely that one or more required actions haven’t been completed. 

BMW vehicles require a few linking actions to enable full EV functionality. This guide outlines everything that needs to be done. If the consumer is missing data or features, walk through each task below to ensure nothing has been forgotten.


Action 1 - Enable GPS positioning in vehicle for vehicle location

To locate your car effectively, ensure that the car's GPS positioning service is enabled. Follow these steps to activate the service from the settings menu:

  1. Access Settings: Open the settings menu on your car's infotainment system.

  2. Enable GPS Positioning: Locate and select the option to enable the GPS positioning service.For detailed instructions specific to your car model, you can refer to BMW's tutorial here.


Action 2 - Accept the BMW terms and conditions for communication with your device

To access your device's telemetry data, accept BMW's terms and conditions through the BMW app:

  1. Open BMW App: Start by launching the BMW app on your mobile device

  2. Sign In: Sign in to your BMW account if you haven't already

  3. Accept Terms and Conditions: Within the app, locate and follow the instructions to accept BMW's terms and conditions


Action 3 - Subscribe to BMW ConnectedDrive Remote Services for vehicle communication

To access vehicle telemetry, you'll need a subscription to ConnectedDrive Remote Services. Activate the BMW Remote Services subscription by following the instructions provided in the myBMW app.


To restore communication to your device, you need to link your BMW account again.
