Optimisation vs. Octopus Intelligent Flux
There are a few key differences between our optimisation engine and Octopus Intelligent Flux, and understanding them can help consumers decide which setup offers the best value and control.
Who is the battery optimising for?
The biggest difference lies in who benefits from the battery’s behaviour.
Our optimisation is designed to directly benefit the consumer. Every decision optimisation makes, when to charge, discharge, or hold energy, is based on the consumer’s tariff and is aimed at maximising personal savings or export revenue.
Intelligent Flux, on the other hand, is controlled by Octopus Energy and is designed to help them manage their wholesale energy costs and flex commitments. While consumers still benefit, the battery is ultimately being used to serve Octopus’ grid-level goals.
